Twinwood Festival News

6th March 2010

We've just been talking to one of our long time festival friends, promoter and broadcaster Marilynn Harrat and she will be bringing along a jazz trio featuring her husband Peter on sax. We are pleased to announce they will be doing a live session at the Tin Hat at the beginning of Ricardo Gazzini's show on Saturday. Not to be missed!

CAMPERS CAN ARRIVE EARLY FOR THE 2010 FESTIVAL
There is always a mad rush at the beginning of each Festival so we've decided to open up the camp site a day earlier to make things a little easier. For those who are able to come earlier we will allow the pitching up of caravans and tents from mid-day on Thursday 26th August. Please note that we cannot guarantee that the showers and some toilets will be installed by Thursday, but the permanent toilet block will be open. Also the Camp Site Shop will not open until Saturday morning.

THE TWINWOOD MEMORIAL
On the Sunday morning of the Festival at 10.30 in front of the Control Tower a memorial dedicated to those who served at Twinwood During World War II will be unveiled. There will be a short service and fittingly a Spitfire will do an air display over the site. This will be the first memorial to be erected at Twinwood.

THE TIN HAT CLUB
We are now installing a full wooden sprung dance floor along with reducing the stage size to improve the dancing experience at Ricardo Gazzini's Jazz Nights.

RICARDO GAZZINI'S JAZZ NIGHTS
Whilst on the subject of Jazz, Ricardo has asked if he can do a Friday night session to add to the very popular Saturday and Sunday sessions. Naturally we agreed!

RUGCUTTERS HANGAR DANCE
Those of you who are already familiar with Paul Claydon's Dance Workshops in the Marquee and the Hangar will be pleased to hear that Paul will now be host and DJ to a 1930's/40's dance in the Hangar on Friday night and therefore in addition to the Nag's Head Bar the Officer's Mess Bar will now also be open on Friday night.

This now means that there will Jazz at the Tin Hat, Hangar Dances, and Marquee Dances on Friday , Saturday, and Sunday night. So plenty of choice for all you late night revellers!

EXTRA ROOM FOR DANCERS ON THE MAIN ARENA
Due to popular demand the 2010 Festival sees a new dance floor being laid in the arena at the rear Front of House Mixing Position and Delay Tower. This floor is in addition to the existing one and has its own sound system and extra lighting.

NEW CARAVAN AND CAMPING SITE
A further 25 acres of land adjacent to the camp sites on the arena side of the airfield has now been laid to grass and all being well this new site will be ready for 2010. This means that more campers will be able to walk to the arena instead of having to catch the shuttle bus from the other side of the airfield.

TIN HAT CLUB LECTURES
To add to the variety of entertainment available at the Festival we are now planning to stage interesting talks at the Tin Hat Club. The plan is to have two lectures per morning on subjects covering aspects of World War II and also life in the 40s. These lectures will be enhanced by films played on our in-house cinema. Twinwood has already staged lectures before with great success and we're sure that many visitors will enjoy these prior to each days music activities.
