Dance Lessons 2023

Twinwood offers a wide range of FREE dance lessons during the festival to get you up and on those dance floors! With classes for complete beginners as well as more experienced dancers, there is something for everyone. There’s no need to sign up - you can just turn up and have fun!

We host a dazzling and comprehensive array of dance lessons on Saturday, Sunday, and Monday, where you can learn the Lindy Hop, Balboa, Charleston and many more Swing dance styles. We also teach a mix of social ballroom lessons and novelty dances, as well as beginner Jive classes for those looking for some great Rock ‘n’ Roll moves!

There’s so much to choose from, and daily lessons are held across four different large indoor venues at the festival. You'll also find the full dance workshop timetable detailed in the day planner that is given to all festival arrivals at the reception tent.

The Dance Marquee

The Dance Marque hosts a wide variety of classes throughout the day for beginners.

The Tin Hat

The Tin Hat has a full day schedule of classes for improvers, and also for those intermediate ability. Click the image below for a large PDF version.

The Century Club

Cambs & Beds Lindyhop Experience (C&BLE) was created by Hoc & Mark Ewing way back in 1996 and they have been teaching for the last quarter of a century all around the country and abroad. Theirs were the first Lindyhop lessons in East Anglia, and many of their original students have gone on to teach.

So look out for C&BLE in the Century Club marquee with tunes from The Melody Man; come and dance, have a cake and a cuppa or a beer, or just simply come and say "hello" to the Team...

The Hangar

In The Hangar, we offer Rock 'n' Roll dance classes for complete beginners. Join a Jive Class and learn to Jive in just an hour!



Your Dance Teachers

Barry & Helen

With close to 40 years collective Lindy Hop experience, Barry Moody and Helen Hart now run Swingymabob, providing classes and regular events in and around the Norwich area. Their Lindy hop journey has seen them attend regular classes with some of the worlds best teachers and frequent attendance of UK and international dance camps, including several in the US have added to their knowledge of the dance, which they love to share. Their relaxed approach to classes makes for a fun learning experience.

Paul & Debbie

Both have been dancing 30 years, with 22 years teaching Lindy Hop near Royston & Bury St Edmunds with Beginner courses & Intermediate classes, with a wide knowledge of all aspects of Lindy Hop they love to give you clear instruction in a fun yet challenging way at all levels! Passionate about 1920’s Partner Charleston something for everyone to try. They also run dance workshops, social dances & live band nights.

Jim & Nicky

Jim and Nicky are really excited to be back teaching Swing Dance at Twinwood. Jim & Nicky based in Gloucestershire, have been teaching on the National and International Swing Dance circuit for more years than they care to admit to, they love all styles of Swing Dance but Collegiate Shag is their passion, it’s such a fun happy dance. They have taught, performed, judged and choreographed at National & International Swing Dance/Collegiate Shag Dance Camps and are experienced at teaching at all levels. Jim & Nicky are known for their fun, relaxed teaching style.

Andrew & Julie

Andrew Hall from Canterbury Jive (Kent) and Julie Miranda from Hula Boogie (London) are your Jive teachers and are very happy to be returning to Twinwood. With over 20 years experience each in teaching and dancing, their joy and passion for giving beginners their first steps will have you smiling and dancing in no time at all!



SWINGDYHOP

SWINGDYHOP is dedicated to teaching the next generation swing dance. Maxine teaches swing dance in primary schools and has developed an amazing curriculum programme, teaching the World War II topic, through the fun and engagement of learning to swing dance. This will be their 5th year at Twinwood, and they will be in Club Marlene every day. Keep an eye out for Daisy the Cow at the festival too, roaming the grounds and chewing the cud!

Cambs and Beds Lindy Hop

Cambs & Beds Lindyhop Experience was created by Hoc & Mark Ewing way back in 1996, and they have been teaching dancing at Twinwood ever since the festival began! This passion for dancing and for teaching can be seen (and heard!) in their lessons. Hoc & Mark have recently been dubbed (by two separate people on two separate occasions) “The Morecambe & Wise” of the dance world. Join them on Saturday, Sunday and Monday in The Century Club!
